GaugeGrid

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 2026

Overview

GaugeGrid ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and services.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information (email address)
  • Vehicle information you enter (make, model, year, mileage)
  • Maintenance records you create
  • Photos and documents you upload

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information (device type, operating system)
  • Usage data (features used, app interactions)
  • Crash reports and diagnostics

Analytics & Tracking Technologies

We use third-party analytics and infrastructure services (such as cloud hosting, analytics, and crash reporting providers) that may collect data using device identifiers and similar technologies. We do not use this data for advertising or user profiling. You may limit analytics collection through your device's privacy settings.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our services
  • To sync your data across devices
  • To improve our app and user experience
  • To send service-related notifications
  • To respond to your support requests

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase, a Google Cloud service. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. Your vehicle and maintenance data is private and only accessible to you.

Anonymized Data Contribution (Optional)

With your explicit consent, we may create anonymized versions of your maintenance data to improve our product — such as better service recommendations, cost estimates, and maintenance insights for all users.

Anonymized data has all identifying information permanently removed: no name, email, VIN, license plate, location, or exact dates. Once anonymized, data cannot be linked back to you or your account.

You can opt in or out at any time in Settings. Opting out stops future processing immediately. Previously anonymized data cannot be un-anonymized or deleted because it contains no information that could identify you.

This is entirely optional and does not affect your use of the App.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only:

  • With service providers who help us operate our services (e.g., cloud hosting)
  • When required by law or to protect our rights

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data you entered
  • Export the data you entered
  • Delete your account and data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

Additional Rights for Certain Jurisdictions

EU Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you also have the right to rectification, the right to restrict or object to processing, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time.

California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and whether it is sold or disclosed (we do not sell your data), the right to request deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete the records you entered at any time from within the App, and request deletion of your account by contacting us.

When you delete a vehicle, maintenance log, or other record, it enters a 30-day recovery window during which you can restore it from the "Recently Deleted" screen in Settings. After 30 days, the record is permanently purged and cannot be recovered. You can permanently delete records before the 30-day window expires by using the "Delete All Permanently" action.

For Business and Fleet tier users, certain records (maintenance logs, inspections, defect reports) may be subject to regulatory retention requirements based on your jurisdiction. While such a requirement applies, these records cannot be permanently deleted, and some requirements have no fixed end date.

Backups of cloud data are retained for up to 90 days post-deletion for disaster recovery, after which all traces are permanently removed.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect information from children under these ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date.
